In coal yard management, self heating and spontaneous combustion are common. Self heating and spontaneous combustion of coal piles not only waste energy and increase the cost of power generation, but also seriously pollute the environment with harmful gases such as carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide produced by spontaneous combustion. With the continuous promotion and popularization of the mixed burning system in power plants, more and more coal types, places of origin and sources are used in power plants, and the fuel management work is becoming more and more complex, facing many challenges. Among them, the phenomenon of coal pile heating and spontaneous combustion is becoming more and more serious, and the traditional manual coal temperature inspection and burning old and storing new system is becoming more and more unsuitable for the current situation of coal yards, which can not effectively curb the phenomenon of coal pile heating and spontaneous combustion.
Causes of spontaneous combustion of coal piles
Spontaneous combustion of coal piles often requires three main conditions: first, the coal has the tendency of spontaneous combustion, second, the oxygen supply condition is good, and third, the heat dissipation condition is poor. The spontaneous combustion ability of various coals is different, and some are easy to spontaneous combustion, such as lignite, long flame coal, etc; Some are not easy to spontaneous combustion, such as lean coal, anthracite, etc. in addition, the higher the sulfur content and moisture content of coal, the faster the oxidation reaction speed and the more heat release, the easier the coal is to spontaneous combustion. The heating of coal pile is an oxidation reaction, so the spontaneous combustion of coal pile requires a certain porosity and good ventilation conditions. The oxidation reaction of the coal pile releases heat. If the heat dissipation conditions are poor, the heat accumulation will increase the temperature of the coal pile. The higher the coal temperature is, the more intense the oxidation reaction is. The two aspects interact with each other, accelerating the spontaneous combustion process of the coal pile.

1. System application purpose
The coal storage bunker is equipped with an infrared thermal imager, which is used to monitor the surface temperature of coal storage in the coal storage bunker in real time, discover the spontaneous combustion of coal storage in time, locate the position of spontaneous combustion of coal storage, so as to take timely treatment measures to ensure the safety of coal storage bunker and reduce the loss of spontaneous combustion of coal storage.
The system achieves its goals
The construction of the system achieves the following objectives:
- Automatic patrol inspection: the system has a preset travel, and uses the intelligent mode of computer system to operate, so it can automatically patrol and test without supervision.
- Automatic early warning: if the surface temperature of the target coal pile is abnormal, it will automatically alarm, store the heat map of the working state of the equipment, and prompt the specific location information of the personnel, so as to eliminate the fault immediately and give the work report.
- Remote control: realize remote temperature analysis and remote real-time image monitoring of the coal pile surface in the coal storage bunker.
- In case of alarm, the system will give audible and visual warnings to operators, and provide alarm hard contacts to provide telecontrol alarm information for fire protection and early warning.

The system is mainly composed of "on-site monitoring equipment", "communication network", "infrared monitoring platform" and "infrared online monitoring system client".
3System function design and characteristics
3.1Function design of monitoring center
The monitoring center is mainly composed of software, which is an organization in system function and management. Since the video signal and control signal have all been connected to the Ethernet, any computer in the Ethernet can be monitored by permission control.
The function concept of the monitoring center includes the regional monitoring center and the main control center. The main control center manages and monitors each regional monitoring center in the way of authority management. The function requirements of the main control center and the regional monitoring center are basically the same.
3.1.1Real time image monitoring
- The monitoring center can monitor all image information, temperature analysis and real-time temperature monitoring information of each coal storage bunker in real time, and complete the functions of real-time display, monitoring, storage, analysis, processing and reporting of remote infrared images. The communication mode is IP unicast and multicast.
- In the monitoring center, four channels of real-time infrared image information can be monitored in real time, and the same screen can be monitored at the same time; Multiple terminals in the monitoring center and MIS network image users can monitor the infrared image of any coal bunker at the same time.
- Automatic patrol inspection, that is, the system has the function of video automatic patrol inspection, and carries out image patrol inspection on the monitoring points within a settable interval. The objects participating in the round patrol can be set at will.
3.1.2Remote control
- Remote control infrared monitoring equipment (including pan tilt, lens, etc.);
- Set infrared alarm parameters remotely, such as monitoring position, alarm temperature, alarm target, temperature difference alarm, etc.
- Set the automatic patrol inspection time and inspection strategy of the infrared system remotely.
- Local or remote equipment temperature field distribution monitoring and control can be carried out, and the equipment temperature field distribution monitoring strategy can be determined in advance, and the system will automatically monitor the equipment temperature field distribution according to the developed strategy; The distribution of equipment temperature field can also be monitored and controlled through electronic map.
3.1.3Alarm management
- Alarm management can switch the specified infrared thermal imaging instrument screen according to the alarm signal position, and realize audible and visual alarm;
- Receive the alarm information of the monitoring system of the coal storage bunker, and designate the corresponding infrared thermal imaging instrument to record the video for accident investigation;
- All alarm information is automatically saved and can be printed out when necessary;
- Automatically generate the processing report according to the preset report format;
- The system generates audible and visual alarm, and provides alarm hard contacts to provide telecontrol alarm information for fire protection and early warning.

- The monitoring center can display and store the real-time images of the selected infrared thermal imager of each coal bunker;

4.2Network transmission unit
The system applies the most advanced digital processing method, and needs to realize the network transmission of all monitoring data based on optical fiber. After compressing and encoding the thermal image data stream signal, it is transmitted to the monitoring room in real time through the optical fiber network. Reduce the amount of data in the transmission process and improve the data transmission rate.
4.3Monitoring center unit
The monitoring center is mainly composed of monitoring server and monitoring software, which process the data signals returned from the network. The monitoring software performs various operations and displays on the large screen display. At the same time, all monitoring images are monitored and recorded in real time for 24 hours, which can be consulted and analyzed afterwards. The pan tilt rotation and the zoom of the thermal imager are controlled by the system software.
